2011 KAPAI PUKU PAN PACIFIC BRASILIAN JIU JITSU CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rob Moffatt, Head Instructor at Fusion Fight and Fitness led a team of ten to the 2011 Kapai Puku Pan Pacific Brasilian Jiu Jitsu Championships, held at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Center on September 16,17,18. The Competition was held over three days due to its large presence, which saw over 800 competitors showcasing the very best athletes from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Brazil.
The competition was extremely tough, with teams coming from overseas and some very talented competitors placing in the recent World Championships. The competition was by far the largest and most technical competition Australia, or the South Pacific has ever seen.
Local competitors from Fusion Fight and Fitness, Rob Moffatt won Silver Medal in Men's under 91kg Brown Belt division. Grant Cooper, won a Gold Medal in Men's Seniors division in under 85kg Blue Belt and a Bronze Medal in Men's Seniors division in Open Weight, Blue Belt. Garrett Maunder won Bronze in Men's Open weight, novice division.
Rob Moffatt, Grant Cooper and Garret Maunder are all now eligible to compete for the World Championships next year in the USA.
